On our recent trek out to Storm Brewing for their Storm Social, the entire Sip Alliance fell in love with this beer. We even filled a growler full, for later consumption.
The Berry Blaster Sour Ale was like a sour cherry blaster candy in brew form. We all agreed, however, that the recipe was more sweet than sour and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. It’s not like the ale is devoid of tartness, it’s just not as prevalent as one might believe.
This 6% ABV beverage is apparently brewed with cherries, strawberries and Storm’s own Imperial Flanders Red Ale (itself a 11% ABV concoction). While many Storm products can only be found at their brewery, this is one release that may pop up at various pubs across Vancouver. Getting it from the source is still the easiest option, though.
I love Storm’s experimental nature and constantly changing board of ‘Brainstorms’. Over the years, I’ve been able to try some really neat stuff at their Yeast Van location, which despite its sketchy outlook, is a haven for beer lovers… and their designated drivers alike!
